Free Resources to help build your Business

I have listed as many free tools and resources as I think you will need and that I have used and found useful. You can upgrade with some of these too if you like them and feel you need more than the free offering but only if you want to. You should get by fine with these to start with. Please let me know of any you recommend that we are not sharing on here as would love to hear about them.

Google Insights

I use Google Insights to compare search volume patterns across specific regions,time frames and categories, a very useful free tool.

Google Trends

Use Google Trends to view which keywords have what amount of traffic visiting through them and which countries and cities search most for these keywords. It’s extremely important in choosing the correct keywords.

Word Tracker

Free keyword suggestion tool that will also help you to choose which keywords will work best for your site. This is an essential part of successful SEO - Search Engine Optimization.

WordPress

Make a website today with WordPress… it’s free and it comes with a large selection of free templates and free widgets. Get a site online today!

Jing

Make free video tutorials with Jing. It’s free and incredibly easy to use. You will be able to record your computer screen and talk- enabling you to share with people what you’re doing.

Google Picasa

Picasa is a software download from Google that helps you organize, edit, and share your photos. It’s free, and easy to use.

Animoto

Animoto turns your photos and video clips into professional video slideshows in minutes. Fast, free and shockingly simple – we make awesome easy

Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 with SP1

Expression Encoder imports and encodes video files, produces live webcasts, enhances media with watermarks and advertising, and publishes with Silverlight. The Free version is great for screen capture videos up to 10 minutes. There is a Pro version but free download is great! Great alternative to Camtasia.

 Gimp

If you can’t afford to buy Adobe Photoshops to edit and creat images then use Gimp. It’s free and easy to use. Although it’s not as advanced as Photoshop, it normally gets the job done.

Creative Commons

If you need pictures for you website, you can find free images here that you can not only use, but actually edit- and the best part is you can get the graphics for free. Just make sure you tick the box and the top which says “Search for works I can use for commercial purposes.” and the box which says, “Search for works I can modify, adapt, or build upon.”

SXC

You can also get free graphics from this site too.

(You may also be interested in visiting www.istockphoto.com, they provide many professional graphics and have a huge selection, look for royalty free images.

Outsourcing

Odesk

Here you can hire, web designers, copywritters, programmers, freelancers etc to do all your work for you. It’s a great way to find cost effective solutions to getting your site online.

Elance

Elance providers the same service as Odesk. It’s worth signing up, it’s free, and you could find some very useful people on it, who can help you move forward with your website.

Rent a Coder

This is like Odesk and Elance, but it’s main focus is on software development. Very useful if you’re looking to have some applications built, or games made

Fiverr is a place for people to share things they’re willing to do for $5: Funny and Bizarre, Social Marketing, Graphics, Advertising, Technology, Business
